So, first off, in my living room, I wanted to have the TV placed at the center, but due to my family's decision not to, and a fireplace, the TV is positioned at a corner.
This is how it is set up at the moment: ![]() Now, it just seems like something is missing with the sound. Just feels kinda strange with the surround right speaker far from the other speakers... Is there an optimal speaker placement with a TV in the corner? or some settings to tweak? Thanks |

You don't show where your seating is located at, the surrounds would probably sound better if they were equidistant from your main seating position. Have you calibrated the speaker levels with the present locations?

oh yea, my bad, I have calibrated the speaker levels... the seating is a little forward in the center between the two surround speakers. Since the seating is facing towards the TV, basically the surround right speaker would be behind the person then. If that speaker were to move further up on the other side of the window, then it would kind of cut off half of the room.

what type of receiver do you have 5.1 or 7.1? I am assuming you sit against the wall where the surrounds are and then have another couch or chairs off to the right or something???
Can you pull the seating area out a little so the speakers are actually behind you and not on the side of you? If you have a 7.1 you could add another speaker on the otherside of the window(?), to capture sound in that part of the room. Perhaps turn the speakers in to face the seating area. You could put a speaker in the ceiling above the seating area so the sound comes down from above. Just some thoughts. |

If you want to keep the TV and the rest at the same position, this might work better:
![]() But the following would be even better if it's feasible for you (I just change the angle of the TV a bit): ![]() I put the sub in the corner because usually it's one of the best placement but you might have to experiment with it to find the perfect spot. I was going to suggest the same seating position as Johk did. The sound from the mains/center is much more important than the surrounds and your seating should be centered on the tv/mains/center for the best effect. Surround information is mostly ambient sounds and surround placement that is slightly off will be less noticeable.
