Default speaker placement 7.1

i currently have 5.1 speaker system but have purchased onkyo sr605 7.1 system im using jbl ceiling mounted for the rears i now have four of them room size is 6.2 meteres long and 3.6 metres wide im pretty sure the surround backs go rirght on the back wall but not sure how far apart and surround left and right line up wiht the front two but not sure how far foward they position of the back wall any help woul d be great thankyou

Depending on the number of speakers you plan to use in your home theater, the setup should follow one of the diagrams below. All surround speakers should be at a level between your ears and the ceiling. It is best to have all of them at the same level.

not sure what you mean the same level im going to run 7.1 system with the four rears in the ceiling and front two floor standing and centre underneath lcd tv

It is a good idea to have all surround speakers at the same height and the same distance from the main listening position. However, it is not an absolute necessity. Make sure you calibrate your speakers after the new setup.
