Default no sub effect on pcm

when set up as directed for dolby truehd, i get no sound from the sub. bluray is set for 7.1 pcm and reciever is recieving multiple pcm signal. the sub works on bitstream with prologicIIx and all other dolby sources but there is no effect on pcm. lfe is set to o sub crossover is at 80hz and volume is at half on the sub itself. i cannot find any resoulution in the manuals for this. sub is a pinnacle ac100

are your speakers set to full range or "big" on the reciever? they may be receiving most of the LFE information

i am working with sherwood now to get details on the config as the manual or the osd gui does not make mention of setting the speaker size manually. i also came across this forum article that educated me as well.

I agree. I had the same problem until I found out that my Sony Reciever sets your front speakers to "Large" when it should be "Small"

Pioneer receivers have a setting where they will send the LFE signal to the speakers set to large as well as the sub.

thanks for all the responses and i do believe that this is going to be the case with the large and small speaker option. now if only sherwood knew about this issue. They dont seem to know how, or if its possible to adjust it. they do confirm though that this could be the issue. hmmm

in your receiver settings (pg.50 user manual):

HDMI Audio Out = Off

...if that does not solve the issue let me know.

quick question...

is your bluray player set to internally decode (LPCM) or let the Receiver decode (Bitstream)?

in the bluray player settings do you have anything set to "Down-mixed 2ch PCM"?

lol man your good but 2ch downmix is not on either. im gonna owe you a beer. i just got through experiemtning with the "prestige" and moved all kinds of things around and still no effect from the sub on pcm mode. the front mains sounded killer and did produce low end like crazy but that defeats the purpose. the mission continues....

To me it sounds like the audio is being decoded in the player, but for some reason it is being downmixed to 2 channel stereo which could explain no sound from the subwoofer.

or

perhaps your receiver suffers from an LFE issue with LPCM audio. It is a known issue on quite a few different BD players and Receivers. I tried a goole search of any LFE problems from a fellow sherwood owner. But I found none so this theory is less likely...but still possible.

Trial and error. I'm sure an answer will appear soon enough.

I believe the BD30 firmware 2.2 fixed the LFE issue. I was not aware that the BD50 also has an issue.

That sux.

as i recall from my reading, and i may be very off base with my understanding, the firmware fix for the bd30 added a +5 db to the lfe level in the settings bringing the range from -10 to +5. the range on the bd50 is -10 to 0. If i am off on this please educate me ass panasonic has not replied to my request as of yet.

Thanks again,
Ray
