Default Has Hollywood ran out of ideas?

Has Hollywood ran out of ideas?

When is the last time that there was a good origional idea in hollywood?
It seems link every good new movie lately has either been based on some kind of print source material (comics-Iron Man, Batman, etc... Books-Lord of the Rings, etc...) or bringing back ideas from the past (aka Transformers).

It seems only a matter of time before Hollywood starts bringing back shows/movies that should stay dead.
So, what is the next idea that will be brought back from the past and made into a horrible movie?

GoBots?
A live action CareBears movie?
Ewok Adventure 3?

Most movies historically have been some sort of adaptation.

Godfather - Book
LOTR - Book
Gone With The Wind - Book
My Fair Lady - Play
Ben Hur - Play
Breakfast at Tiffany's - Short Story

Of The AFI top 10, 10th anniversary only four movies were original screenplays:
Citizen Kane, Singin' In The Rain, Lawrence of Arabia, and Vertigo.

I don't think that Hollywood will run out of good ideas, but there will some bad ones that will come to pass.

They have run dry.

I saw 'Facebook: The Movie' on here yesterday... are you serious Hollywood???

I'm finishing my screenplay and taking a vacation out there to pitch it.

Everything gets its inspiration or start from something else, there really is nothing new, it terms of ideas, just a new twist on an old idea. So Hollywood for all its pomp and circumstance is doing nothing more than a fancy repackage on an old idea, and I am fine with that.

Granted its based upon the book 'Oil!', buuuut its loosely based on it, so its a loose adaptation and not a remake.

Why does anybody think that Hollywood is supposed to be a breeding ground and beacon of light for artistic expression and uniqueness. It is the breeding ground and beacon of light for capitalism, materialism, and superficiality. Hollywood is around because money is out there to made.

The big idea in Hollywood = make money anyway possible.

Watch yourself!
The movie "experts" will come in here and tear you a new one.

I agree though, some ideas should be let go - too tired to keep bringing back.

I don't know of anyone who would claim for Hollywood to be a "beacon of light for artistic expression and uniqueness", but I do enjoy having at least some movies to watch with origional ideas (otherwise, why buy it if you already own a movie with the same idea).

But, does this mean that you are anxiously awaiting Ewok Adventure 3?

If an idea continues to make money, then Hollywood will make movies with the same idea. I am not looking forward to anything from George Lucas because that guy makes terrible movies, lately.

And Vertigo was by the mastermind. I do not believe that there has been anyone like him nor will there be in this day and age

Individuals run out of idead, but humanity itself generates new ideas and concepts on a constant basis.

These original ideas from just last year received some praise:

Juno
Lars and The Real Girl
Michael Clayton
Ratatouille
The Savages

Juno was hardly original. It was still amazing. But Saved! was very similar.

40 Year Old Virgin was great.
