Default My Last Format War Sour Grapes Post

Hey, everyone. With the rumored 10/20/08 release of "Trainspotting" in the UK recently being cancelled, does anyone know yet for sure yet whether that "Freedom 7" HD DVD release from Bandai Visual is streeting tomorrow (the 19th) or on the 26th? Granted, I use the term "streeting" loosely as it will reportedly only be available directly through the Bandai Visual web site. But I somehow still need to know. I know it may seem pointless, but I just feel compelled to know what day the very last freakin' HD DVD title becomes available. To me, this is a milestone even if it doesn't *mean* anything. I started visiting this forum during the height of the format war and it was, to put it mildly, both enthralling and exhausting. If tomorrow is the day that the last HD DVD title ever is made available, this gives me a sense of closure that just can't come with the slow fizzling out of the HD DVD format. It's a single, definitive moment where I can say "today is *the* day that no more will be made". I know this may just sound like sour grapes, but it really isn't. I just need closure. The war left scars on me that need healing, and I feel that this is what I need. I want to go out, buy a celebratory Blu-ray, and just chill in the knowledge that this is the day that there is the absolute most HD DVD product in the world that there will ever be, and from here on out, the damned thing is dead, buried, and no longer being manufactured...not a single title...not by anyone...anywhere in the world. I don't know why, but this is important to me. It'll make me happy. Really, it will.
