Default Sony or Toshiba

I was looking at Costco and saw a Sony Bravia 46" 1080p with 120z for $1800. Then I saw a Toshiba Regza 1080p with 120hz for $1600. Which one would you pick?

Are you aware of what happened to Toshiba's recent format and their glitching HD-DVD players? Take time to think about it and choose wisely.

As we all know, Toshiba's electronics lack initiative; just plain boring and nothing special. The ones that show something extra are Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and Pioneer

I've seen the Toshiba's and they look nice, but for the extra money I would go Sony.

I may hate Toshiba for nearly winning the format war and cheating us out of high quality entertainment, however that said their TV's aren't bad, I have a toshiba HDTV (1080i) and it works flawlessly. ultimately it's up to you, but I would recommend not going so much on the brand name but look up reviews of the 2 models see if there are any complaints about the 2 TV's compare the features etc... and use the pro/cons to make the judgement, at least that's what I do.

Neither. I'd pick either a Pansonic or Pioneer plasma TV.

I would not. Both Plasma and LCD are comfortably being invited out. And Plasma is way ahead out the door. In the far opposite corner is OLED.

I recently purchased a Toshiba Regza 42" 1080P Lcd on Monday for $997,and I am very pleased with it,when buying a new tv you simply have to go with your own eyes and your own gut feeling,I did however buy a samsung 37" 720P tv and I returned it the next day for the Toshiba which I got for the same price as the sammy

I don't mean to sound partisan but in such a restricted choice I would go with Sony. However If I were you, I'd look around other brands too before making a final choice.

I think you're thinking of buying the Sony 46" Bravia Z Series (which came out this past Summer) I recently bought that and I am SO pleased with it! I'm biased but get the Sony one for sure!

I have a hard time supporting any Toshiba products right now as they are still very anti Blu-ray and are looking to, litterally, deceived people with their whole "enhanced picture...looks like HD". This goes for both their upconverting players and TV.

Honestly, I never liked their TVs anyways. Bought one many years ago and returned it.

Go with the Sony!!!

When it comes to Toshiba TVs, nobody can say that they don't provide a quality image that can compete with Sony's Bravia line of products...

HOWEVER!!! The longevity of said products is where the difference lies. I've always been a fan of Sony products because they are designed with lifespan in mind. I have seen numerous accounts of almost every other brand of TV having problems or dying after the 2 year mark. I have rarely seen those situations with Sony.

So, for the $200 difference, buy the Sony and consider it worth not having to spend another $2000 in 2010!
