Question Adding DVD Recorder to Current Setup. What is the simplest way (less wiring)?

Hey folks,

As we seem to be recording a little bit again, we are in the process of getting a DVD recorder. Note that we don't have a VHS in the setup since we simply don't use it.

I would like to know from someone that has a lot home theater components together what would be the best setup with as little extra wiring as possible.

To help you start my base setup for my HD Cable Box is this:

Source to HD Cable Box ---->HDMI to TV for video ----->Digital Audio out to receiver for sound.

Before giving suggestions, I don't know if the following is possible but if it is that would be great.

- Source to HD Cable Box
- Composite audio/video (or SVideo for that) to recorder
- Component from recorder out to receiver

If I just want to record and watch disc on the ps3 afterwards, would this work? I don't care about not being able to watch while recording. That's the whole point anyways. I don't even think I would need component out to receiver then either. I just don't know if this is possible without having source in to box and then back out to recorder (wouldn't I loose the HD signal anyways by doing this?)

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Thx
