Question this is probably stupid

i recently picked up a Sony Bravia 32" LCD 720p HDTV and i was wanting to start getting some BD movies. now, im new on this site, but i see all these movies play at 1080p. will they ONLY play at that level, or will they support 720p? im asking bcuz im really looking forward to the dark knight, and dont want to be left out of a great movie experience bcuz i wanted to save a few hundred dollars. any help is GREATLY appreciated, and plz dont laugh at me.....

yes - blu-rays will still play at 720P. Don't worry.

And the issue has come up before, but the search function doesn't work all that well

You're movies will display just fine, so enjoy your new TV.

Secondly. I think you were being smart, not cheap, buying a 32"/720p display. I have a pretty good eye, and I can't tell the difference between 720p/1080p on a display of 32". Take the money you saved and buy those BD's you wanted!

To the OP - The bad thing about Blu-ray is that it will cause upgradetitis, and you'll want something bigger than that 32" set. But enjoy, and welcome!

Trust us, it's all downhill from here. Later on you'll want a bigger tv, new reciever, and speakers. Welcome and enjoy that tv. If I'm not mistaken it will probably upconvert to 1080i, try checking it with the display button on your BD player if you have one already.
