I know HD-DVD's could have an "Image Constraint Token", which forced the player to output PAL/NTSC if the video connection did not support HDPC.

ICT and HDCP are two seperate things.
HDCP prevents 1080p video to be displayed via HDMI/DVI if the HDTV is not HDCP compliant. So even if the panel can deliver 1080p video, the signal it'll get will only be 1080i. ICT on the other hand prevents 1080p/i video to be displayed via HDMI if the token is turned on. Some say you can't even get 720p. And yes, BD has both ICT and HDCP. fuad |
