I have a 56 inch samsung 1080p lcd
& 80 gb ps3 this may be my tv needing the settings messed with or the ps3? when i play a blu-ray the audio when the people are talking is hard to make out...but the explosions and other stuff is really loud. So if i turn it up loud enough to hear the people talk..The expolsions or any other sound blows your head off..... I havent messed with the settings on the ps3 or my tv yet...and dont have surround sound yet either. Anyone have this problem and any suggestions? Thanks |

You wouldn't happen to be using a standard white/red audio cable, would you? ...have to get an adapter to use it. If so, it can be either the red/white cable isn't working.

I have a feeling it might be the tv settings sometimes too. Last edited by ElectricShock; 10-13-2008 at 12:23 AM. |

go into the ps3 audio menu and enable the dynamic range control, it will project the characters voices and will make them louder. will only work when sending lpcm though

Is it possible that you're sending 5.1 audio to your TV, but your TV is only playing back the L and R channel audio?
I don't have a center channel speaker, and if my receiver isn't set up for phantom center (where all the C audio is sent equally to L and R), then it sounds very much like the way you've described. A 5.1 movie's dialog is sent maybe 80% to the C channel. |

Actually, I've noticed this same problem with a couple movies, but I always thought it was just because of my huge subwoofer (650W). I'll be checking this forum for solutions as well because I have trouble hearing dialogue sometimes too and I have 5.1 but through optical because I don't have a receiver new enough to support HDMI sound.
