Default HTIB receiver with small footprint?

Hello everyone - I've been reading here for a while, but have finally found a need to post. I have a Samsung HL-T5687SAX TV, and just got an LG BD300 Blu-ray player. I am looking to get a decent HTIB, but I don't have much room for a receiver. You should be able to tell what I'm working with. The LG BD300 is 11" deep, 16.9" wide, and 2.3" tall. It works great where it is, but anything much deeper would not. I could put the receiver on the other side, but I'm afraid most of them are too tall. I was looking at the Onkyo HT-SR600, but the receiver is 17 1/8"w x 5 7/8"h x 14 1/2"d. Any ideas? Thanks!

Get a riser for you set to allow you a little more height for a proper receiver. Something like this:

In all honesty, you're going to want to get a stand near by to put your equipment on. Even if a receiver was to be paper thin, imagine all the speaker cords coming from the mantel. Eww.

All of the speaker/network wire is run up the wall behind the TV.

Man,

I can see that if you upgrade your TV, you'll need a bigger fireplace, maybe even a bigger house!

Seriously, I think many receivers are large because they don't want to include a fan, and instead, contain a large heat sink.

A slimmer unit probably would be available somewhere but would offer less power output.

True, there is not much room to spare - about 1.5" on each side.

Looking for something with a small footprint - I've heard some good things about Arcam 's line Solo It is however a little pricey
