Question about preorders?

If a blu ray movie is preordered, will you receive it on the release date or will it ship on the release date?

Also, where do you guys preorder your movies? Do you do it through this website or what are some good sites to do it through?

I just got into it so I haven't preordered any blus yet. My DVDs from Amazon always ship Monday before they're released and arrive Wednesday.

Well, seeing as how this site is not a store, that's a no....

Most people like Amazon, they usually have the lowest prices and ship out on the Monday before release dates. If you have a Prime membership all 2-day shipping is free, which is pretty sweet.

Some people have used Tower, as they've occasionally shipped items early. But don't rely on it in every case.

amazon preorder with prime always gets to me the day of release.

pre-order shipments vary on a number of conditions:

1. where you ordered from
2. the cost of shipping chosen
3. where you live in reference to the seller
4. the studio which released the movie

as for me:

1. I usually order from tower.com or dvdpacific.com, both of which tend to ship pre-orders out prior to release date.
2. Expedited shipping results in quicker processing and faster shipment times
3. I live just outside of Boston so even regular shipping gets to me relatively quickly from these Florida based retailers.
4. Some studios enforce release dates more strictly than others.

On average I receive movies from Disney/Sony prior to release date by about a week. Fox, Universal, and Lionsgate all tend to be a few days before release date. Warner and Paramount tend to be shipped on release date, If I've ordered from Warner directly I receive the disc on release date, typically.
