Default Recently Viewed DVD/LD/VHS/Other non Blu-ray

I thought it'd be nice to have a thread devoted to recently viewed non-Blu-ray movies, discussing the transfer in that format, potential on blu-ray, etc.

I will view all "What is DVD" comments as simple thread-crapping, and there are multiple other anti-DVD/VHS/LD/HD DVD threads you can go rant in.... so keep this one civilized please......

WHAT TO POST

1) Movie

2) Format

3) Transfer

4) Potential on Blu-ray

My most recently viewed Non-Blu film (which gave me this idea) was

"The Conversation" on DVD

The PQ was pretty good, it's sat on my shelf for awhile, and I was in the mood for a good drama/suspense..... anyways, watching it, the PQ, as I said, was quite good, and although it had a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track, THIS, is the reason I think I could fall in love with this movie all over again on Blu-ray.

This movie would be yet another Blu-release (if one happens) of the late-great John Cazale, and the rest of the cast (Hackman, Harrison Ford, Robert Duvall etc)

I see great potential in this one, and love the Jazz in the soundtrack with David Shire, and would love to see this one on Blu-ray

(MODS, Please don't move to wish-list forum, as this is more a discussion of general movies and their potential, and not just necessarily films that one may want on Blu-ray)

Again, please don't feel the need to thread crap, this is just a general movie discussion.

Although only a DVD, I'm always amazed at the quality of Braveheart and can only dream of what a BD transfer would be like.

The other one is I AM SAM. Great PQ/AQ for a DVD and you gotta love the soundtrack......a definate BD purchase should they ever release it.

I think I'll watch Chinatown again soon..... I watched it recently, but didn't really take away much from the audio.... the PQ isn't too hot though on the DVD.

The Straight Story on DVD.
The PQ is amazing for SD.
Unlike most Lynch movies there's not much in the way of loud music. Mostly just quiet conversations, so the 5.1 DD is just fine, but again i would re-buy on blu simply because i know there would be some improvement.
Non-HD content can still look and sound great, but it's very rare.

Rewatched For Richer or Poorer on DVD. Thought the movie had excellent PQ, and very good AQ. The funniest movie I've ever viewed, but the portrayal of the Amish caused some people to cry fowl. I'm not sure if it will ever come to Blu, for that reason.
