Default To wait or not to wait? [for Black Friday]

I need to get an HDTV as soon as possible. By December 2.

I just saw a 32" 720p Sony for less than $600 on Amazon. At Best Buy (accross the street from me), the same TV is $800.

My question: Is it possible that that TV will be under $600 on Black Friday?

Anythings possible and with Black Friday just a few weeks away you might be able to get that or a better TV for the same price or better. You might want to pick up a news paper Thanksgiving day for all the sales papers and see what the early bird specials will be. I'm holding off on buy more BD's until then.

I vote for waiting and go on and get a 1080P set. Despite what some folks say, you can see the difference! I got my 1080P set on Black Friday two years ago and I be a happy camper!

I read an article on yahoo recently about tv prices dropping like crazy for the holidays. not price drops for newer, high end tv's with 120hz, etc. but it said that tv's like an average 32" could be very cheap. i'd wait if i were you

If you can wait then wait. You have nothing to lose but money. There could be some very nice deals by Black Friday. I'm waiting until then to buy a TV for my Dad and my step-mom.

I agree with the others- wait for Black Friday.

With the economy in the crapper, stores are going to have to lure people in with some of the best deals ever.

Wait my friend.

Last year I got a killer deal on a Sony and then was able to get a 30 day price match when it went even lower a few days before Xmas.

Go with a 1080p HDTV at least 42 inches bud.

Panasonic Plasma is the way to go pal.

As being part of a major retail chain, be careful if you wait. Our inventory was reduced 15% chainwide about 4 months ago. They all knew this was coming, so they didn't overbuy this holiday season. Our whole district is very clean right now, which is surprising. I cannot speak for other retailers, but we are pretty clean. Typically, the best deals come about 2 weeks before black friday on a wider scale. Black friday deals are normally 1 or 2 crazy closeout buys that retailers bought 6-8 months ago, or 'loss-leaders' to get you in the store. Too bad those products are sold-out before you come in, because your not stupid enough to sit in the cold for 8 hours. Anyways, if you see a great deal, buy it!!

Gotta love those "I will let you in on a little bit something but won't get into much detail" posts.

Black Friday has "early birds" first come first get, and regular "sales".

You will be able to get a 32 inch 720p for ~400 on black friday early bird if you dont mind off brands like insignia or element or some other really weird brands. Don't expect the "early bird" sales to be for any sony/samsung/panasonic TVs, they almost never are.

They will of course reduce the prices on the top brand TVs to make it look like its a great deal but even still these reduced sony/samsung/panasonic brand TVs aren't cheaper than what you can buy online already. B&M stores have to pull a lot of strings to compete with online pricing. The sony that you want will never be an early bird, atmost u will probably save 50-75 on it if even that, my guess.

leaked BF ads will be out in a week or two so you can plan out what you are going to do. I would definitely wait like others said though.

Just get a TV off amazon or some other well known site.

It's much easier and cheaper than waiting for a B and M store to have a good price on a hdtv you can already get for even cheaper than what their "sales" price will be.

After Black Friday it might be harder to find the right TV you want. I recommend getting it now.
