Default just got the samsung bpd-1000-so far so good

ive only watched a standard dvd so far-without a firmware update-the upconversion was great-almost hd quality-i cant wait to see a blu ray with or without the update

and maybe this only happens with a blu-ray disc-i havent watched any yet so i dont know but ive heard alot of complaints about loading time and so on-but the movie i watched tonight loaded just as fast as any of my other players.

so far this player is getting a good review from me

When you get Blu-rays tell us about the experience .

Oh and just a caution. Some movies are grainy (grain in film can be normal)and some are grainfree (specially CGI movies) just telling you so you know. For example I love the way X-Men III looks, sharper and crisper (including the film grain) than on the theater. Some people think that's a bad thing.

I've had mine for a week, love it. Update the firmware and check out Casino Royale and Underworld Evolution, great PQ. Watching Flyboys BR tonight.

Default samsung bdp 1000 -just watched my first blu-ray movie-no firmware yet but impressive

i dont know-all these bad reviews but i watched a netflix rented blu-ray movie-mission impossible 3 and it looked great-without the firmware-i mean-with the firmware it might look spectactular.i dont have a plasma or lcd either-i have a hitachi 65inch rear projection-a new model though and the colors were right on.yes there was some graininess in some scenes-early on in the movie but over all fantastic.watching the departed tonight and getting casino royale tomorrow.MI 3 wasnt in pcm so im still waiting to see a flick with that audio soundtrack

I get grain even on my 32" Sharp Aquos that goes up to 1080i and I was wondering if that was the way the movie was encoded or if its my tv. Do i need to have a 1080p HDTV so that the grain goes away. I think its the stupid downscaling. Am I right on this one? Help out...
