Default Is a Blu-ray DVD player worth it?

I am contemplating buying a new Sony BDP350 BR player today. It is on sale for $179.

I have a 50" Panasonic 1080 Plasma.

Is it worth it over regular DVD players?
Does it make a difference when playing regular DVD's in it?

Please reply asap as I need to know soon whether or not to buy it today.

Lol! Yes it will be well worth it. Once you see and hear the quality of blu-ray, you won't ever go back to the scrappy dvd. You won't believe your eyes when you watch it on your Panasonic Plasma. Everyone else in these forums will tell you the same thing.

Yes, I would recommend getting a BD player, especially seeing as you have a 50" 1080p Panasonic plasma. You should notice the difference right away. Don't forget to calibrate your tv if you haven't already.

You're contemplating it at $179? Most of us purchased a player at $400+

Probably a dumb question, but is there any calibration required for LCD monitors?

Buy one asap, if you have a 50 inch Panasonic 1080p tv without a blu ray you can not be enjoying your tv.

for quick calibration, many of the pixar blu-rays have a calibration feature within them too.

Also, think about investing in a dedicated receiver and 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. For starters, go with polk or kliptsch. Good luck!!

NO its not worth it, don't get one, they suck... I just like spending hard earned, hard to come-by extra cash on useless electronics.....

Seriously though, you come to a blu-ray forum website to ask if it is worth it... NO, I just spent over $5000 in 1 year so I'm hip.

Hello, is this thing on?

Definitely worth buying a Blu-ray player. I would not necessarily get the one that you have highlighted though.
