well reading the specs, the t.v sounds good, but i personally would never purchase a samsung t.v. i would stick with Sony, pioneer, or Panasonic.

I can't evaluate that model, but I'm very happy with my LNA650 Samsung TV.

anything is better than old projection tv.
i have 60inch projection too with lcd.. i think i bought it like 8 years ago and paid $2200 + tax for it at best buy. it still works good without single problem. well.. there's problem technically.. i mean.. you can't connect anything these days.. no hd-mi, has component but it can't do 480p so it's useless..
480i only tv sux real bad.. =(
it's kinda waste to throw out since it still works good but as what good is it when you can't connect anything on it.

$550 for a 50" 1080p DLP? Hell, yes! Just to be safe, I'd also look at getting an extended warranty, if for nothing else than bulb replacement.
