No sound on my PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I have a new Samsung LCD and I hooked up my PS3 to it via HDMI. No reciever, just using the speakers on the tv for now. I've been playing games and watched one blu-ray and everything was cool. Then I did a firmware update for the PS3 and now I get all of the sound except voices when people are talking. No voices in the games or blu-ray movies.

I assume it's just some sound setting I have that's wrong. Anyone have a clue what the deal is?

You need to re-check your settings for the audio via HDMI. Only enable 2.0 sound via HDMI; it'll tell the PS3 to downmix 5.1/7.1 audio to stereo for BDs, DVDs and games.

I had that happen to me last night, I really flipped out. I just restarted my PS3 and let it do the system update and sound came back!

That happened to me as well after an update but it was my own goof. Turns out it was just a loose optical link connection.

try unplugging the hdmi, plugging it back in, and redoing your sound settings on the ps3. this happened to me before and after doing this it worked. good luck!
