I bought a PS3 and a nice 32" lcd TV to play my PS3 on. The PS3 is hooked up to the TV by an hdmi cable, but I have a surround sound system in a box that doesn't have a digital input. If i use the rca cable to hook the ps3 up to the surround sound sys will i get 5.1 sound? If not then please read next para.
Ok, after buying a PS3 and 32" LCD im running alittle low on funds for audio right now. SO if i upgrade to a new audio receiver can i use my speakers from my old surround sound sys? the speakers are 2.7ohms. And until i can afford a powered sub can i keep the rca cables going to old surround sound for bass only? OR is there a surround sound system in a box that has a digital input that i can get for under 200? |

walmart has a pioneer and sony model that has receivers and speakers for under 200. Not the best system in the world. NO HDMI but they do have coaxial and optical inputs on them. If your on a budget of under 200 dollars they might be worth checking out. Walamrt does usualyl have them on disaply for you to listen to. I bought the sony one for my sister for her christmas present. Not the best but was a huge upgrade to TV speakers and it does do dolby digital.
http://www.walmart.com/search/browse...catNavId=77622 Theres a better descprition of the sony model on the sony website if you want more details. For some reason the walmart website doesn't list much details http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665061026 Last edited by slaizer2000; 02-08-2008 at 07:38 PM. |

I went with the 1000watt rca one. Thanks for the help. Now GRAW2 and other war type games sound pretty good considering the cost.

I got my PS3 hooked up to the RCA surround sound system with a digital audio cable now. The surround sound for GRAW2 kicks butt now, but for some reason the gun sound is very low unlike in real life where an m16 will cause your ear drums to ring if no ear plugs are in. Other then that I can actually hear the bullets hit stuff behind me now which is cool.
