Default Problems streaming 1080P

Cool forum....glad I found it!

I am trying to stream a 1080P movie to a Samsung DLNA tv but when I do the video is VERY choppy (like 1 frame / sec). The TV is hardwired directly to the router so no wireless problems. When the video is streaming the PC CPU is very low with plenty of memory available.

Has anyone been able to stream a 1080P video directly to a DLNA TV (Samsung LN46A750) using tversity, twonky and the standard software that comes with the TV?? I do not have a PS3 so any help will be appreciated.

1080p requires alot of bandwith, I would double check your network settings. How do other video formats stream?

And to think everyone was worried that digital downloads would someday kill Blu-ray.............how are MILLIONS of people supposed to stream 1080p content all on a typical friday night?..........never happen.........

(Besides cable companies putting bandwidth caps on consumers....)

Stream, from what source?
Blu-ray, good luck!
HDCP won't allow network streaming.
It has to be a secure connection.
Pop for a long HDMI cord and forget about it.

Is there a setting somewhere that may be on T base 10(10mbps)?
That will really dampen transfer speeds.

Check also all hardware to be sure they are all 100m... or higher.

I have a media server from xp to stream my xvids over to the tv, I thought the videos would end up looking horrible on the new 50incher but man they actually dont look too bad.

Thanks for all of the help!

The network is 100M wired directly to the router. I have a feeling that I will need to fire up the Cisco switch in my basement as I think my Netgear router cannot process the high amount of pps.

The source is on my PC and I tried with tversity, twonky and the Samsung PC share software....all have the same problem.

So I am guessing that I am sailing into uncharted territory with the DLNA and blue-ray. I am guessing that the TV cannot process the the high amount of packets and decode the video.

Standard DVD works GREAT! I can even fast forward and rewind 20 seconds.

I still recommend a long HDMI cord.
DLNA or not, Blu-ray across ethernet is going to be problematic.
That whole HDCP thing is gonna be a pisser.
There are workarounds, but one simple cord will make things work easily.

Standard DVD is 9mbps at the high end, usually lower.
Blu-ray is ~40mbps plus audio at the high end.
DVD does not require HDCP, Blu-ray does.
Trying to push Blu-ray across ethernet is going to be a headache.

HDCP is/can be - a bit**.

I am trying to avoid buying a blue-ray drive

The goal is to have one source for multiple devices. Theoretically I should be able to packetize the source and send it to any device with an IP connection and a HD monitor. I think I need to research HDCP.....as you can see I am a newbie to the HD world.

What video type/source are you trying to send across the network?
If it is an actual Blu-ray, you are going to have headaches.

If it is something like a trailer that is 1080p... it should just work.
