Default Choppy playback

I have an external Lite-On BD-drive hooked up to my 24" iMac running Windows. I've tried to use both WinDVD 9 and PoweDVD 7 and 8, but most of the time the playback of the movies is so choppy it's pretty much impossible to watch.

My CPU doesn't struggle, cus it usually stays at 40-50% while playing movies.

I don't get what the problem is, because my specs should also be more than enough:

1920x1200
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz
nVIDIA 8800GT 512MB
Windows XP SP3
2 GB RAM

Any suggestions?

Try lowering your resolution to see if you are still getting choppy playback.

A friend of mine had that problem and once we lowered his resolution, his playback was smooth.

Could try that, but there may still be a million other reasons why it's not working...

Still, everytime I want to watch a BD movie, I have to restart, boot to Windows, and then change my resolution.
Getting Blu-ray to work properly on a PC is a ***** anyway - and I thought I had enough hinders already

It's long overdue for Apple to adopt Blu-ray...
