yeah I would say go with the 42" 720p I think the 32" will be to small to notice the difference bewtween 1080p and 720p.

I have a 720p 42" set and I really like it but I want to go bigger now, and thats when I will get a 1080p set.

I'd go for the 42" personally. You won't notice any difference in sharpness between the two unless you're right up on the screen, and maybe not even then.

I'd go with neither, you can buy a 42 inch 1080p and not have to worry whether you should get a 42 inch 720p or 32 inch 1080p, you'll have it all in one. There are good deals on that size tv with full 1080p, you just gotta look for one. Obviously you'd wanna go with a Sony or Samsung, but it's really on your preference, if price is the issue, I'd say get a Toshiba, or an LG or even a Vizio. It's up to you. Good luck with whatever you get.

Yeah or wait until you can save up another hundred and get a Sharp 42" 1080p for 800. My friend just got one for that price off of amazon

I would personally take 42'' 720p. It's ok for home use.
