Default Blu-ray Recorder l Blu-ray Player l HDTV DVR l HDTV TUner l

Hello

Befor I begin, I should make it clear that I am not referring to Blu-ray Drives for recording, but rather the Blu-ray Recorders that have been available for years now in Japan, and I am expecting as early as Spring 2009. In Japan, they are typically around $2500.00, and when introduced to the United States, I expevt them to typically be $1500.00. will probably acquire several, as the HDTV DVR capability is increadiably useful for simple time shifting alone. I already have several of the Shoy HDTV DVR's and like Blu-ray, simply cannot live without them.

Blu-ray Recorders are quite versitle. They can record any video format, include hard drives for massive storage, and additionally include tuners as previous analog tape units in their time. An additional application, that I intend, is to be able to easily create back ups of anything required of a computer, such as a safety back up of everything, or more specifically, such valuable data as photographs, music, video; to mention a few.

Essentially, they are all-in-one's of the following: Blu-ray Player, HDTV DVR, Television Tuner, Hard Drive, and all around format recorder, which is quite deceptive, as they are simply designated as Blu-ray Recorder.

So; they can be thought of as: Blu-ray Player, or Blu-ray Recorder, or HDTV DVR, or HDTV Tuner, or a back up pathway of your computer. Still though; just a Blu-ray Recorder.

The hard drive storage is required for many reasons of management of information for the recorder to work with. Typically, storage is 500G or 1T, which is just about right.

If you really think about it, they are really quite powerful, yet simple, including everything required in one simple unit for easy use doing most anything required.

Very Simple, yet Very Powerful.

While there is much more to this, this should be a good start to understanding them; I hope that this is helpful.

Thank You

Do they record in 5.1? What codec is used? Do they re-encode their source? What are their inputs?
