Default 30GB Zunes Failing Everywhere, All At Once

http://gizmodo.com/5121311/30gb-zune...yline=true&s=i

I found about this when looking for a way to unlock my 30GB Zune.

From Wikipedia:
The December 31st, 2008 Zune 30 Meltdown

At approximately 12:00 midnight eastern standard time, on December 31st, 2008, Zune 30s across the world simultaneously went to the boot screen and stayed there, frozen. Some believe the problem stems from the recent 3.1 update [15]. Victims are giving the event many names, among them Y2K9, Z2K, and the December 31st, 2008 Zune Meltdown. A response from Microsoft is pending.

I'm at work, just had a customer come in with a frozen 30gb zune. I tried to reset it and it didn't work, i told the guy to let the battery die and it should be back to normal after that. Then i came across this thread after he left

No way, Zune is better and I'll maintain the statement even with this event.

Audio quality on the Zune is superior to the Ipod. The Ipod however does have other advantages. They both suck for movies.

Take your trolling elsewhere. I bought my 30gb Zune for $99... what would that get me from Apple? A hearty handshake and a Shuffle?

From what I'm reading, it's due to the unusual situation where we have one day, one second more this year. I'm betting that after my battery fails and I restart it tomorrow it'll be fine.

Ahh.. yes.... the Zune is OBVIOUSLY better.... I just want to get rid of my reliable iPod for one, the more and more I read about them! The Zune is one of those things ya get for Christmas cos ya parents thought it was the same thing, then you have to justify to your friends that yours is actually better than an iPod! Does the Zune come with a Control-Alt-Delete button?

Apply fanbois coming out in droves. Makes me want to go buy one so I can be snooty and condescending just like you! I especially like how you edited your post to add more insults.

What is it about the internet that makes grown adults act like snippy children?
