Default Differences between Samsung model LCD's

I browning bestbuy's selection of Samsung LCD TV's and cannot figure out the different between the different models.

I am interested in a 52" model and want it to be 1080p and 120hz.

My choices are:

LN52A630
LN52A650
LN52A750
LN52A850
LN52A860

Thanks

I have been waiting to buy one of these for a month or so now, and know more about them than the CEO of samsung. j/k. The best thing that you can do, is go look at these sets on amazon, is you look at the 52a650, and scroll down the page, they tell you what you get when you step up to the 750 and 850. The 630 is their entry level 120hz model, but it has a matte screen, which gives a lower contrast ratio (40,000:1 v. 50,000:1) when comparing the 630 to the 650,750, and 850. The 650, 750, and 850 all have the same picture quality (contrast ratio, same panel, 1080p, 120hz, etc.) When you step up, you just get more features. But right now on amazon, the 52a750 is cheaper than the 52a650. The premium that you par for an 850 is for the 1.9" thickness. Go to amazon for details, and there is a discussion on this topic in the LCD forum.

The 650 and up are suppose to be the best. But I got the 630, and I love it.

The series 8 would obviously be the best. But I think that the price is a little too steep. Series 9 is the best so far because it has LED backlighting. Series 6-8 all have 120Hz refresh rate, but obviously the higher the series #, the better the TV. I was in best buy on boxing day, and the series 9 looked so much better than the other series. Thinking of getting one later this year myself.

i went with the 750 due to the square fram vs the ovalish 650 frame.

750 has built in sub ( sucks ), and samsung sync crap

I had heard the new model samsungs for 2009 will have LED backlighting in the lower models. Would that make much of a difference?

Yes definitely. LEDs are better for producing more vivid and accurate colors, as well as producing deep richer blacks. Better contrast than phosphorous backlighting basically

I was eagerly shopping this Christmas for an LCD and found the 650, 750, and 850 as the best in class. 950 is at another level...it's really the best LCD and some say it's because of the LED but it's a whopping $4k! I was so close to getting the 750 but I keep reading about the "halo" it produces and saw pics on online and not sure if I would perceive it as a "cool" or "disturbing" feature. On top of that, some reported the lifting or cracking of the touch of color at the very edge (saw this pic on amazon). At this price range, I had to break my own heart and hold off. I have a 53" HDTV 1080i projector Panasonic TV (huge monster) so I keep telling myself I can wait another year. But everytime I look at the 750 at the store I keep wanting to get it, so we'll see how far I can last.

Although 950 is awesome, the 750 is just a notch below it and with the price range difference (if you're ok with my 2 negative comments above), I don't know why anyone would get 950 unless they simply have cash to burn...err, spend. You can buy 2-750 for that price.

I'm hoping to get one with LED this year if price drops quite a bit. If not, I'm back to my 750. Hoping prices will drop after the ECS and Superbowl.

Your thoughts?

Your 6 series the difference in the 630 to 650 is contrast ratio.
Your 7 series has a square face compared to the 6 series.
Your 8 series is where samsung begins their slim line models.
Your 9 series is also a slim line, but is suppose to be the next best LCD to the XBR8 both come in the 55 inch size.

The 750 is probably where I'll end up unless I wait until next year. I'd love to replace my 51" RPTV Ultravision but don't want to drop $2k on anything right now considering I work for a bank that is no longer after 12/31/08.
