Default New Model Sony LCD's due out in June

Hi! I am in the market to replace my 50" plasma tv which has bitten the dust. I have heard that Sony is due to come out with a 50" LCD June, 2008. I cannot buy their current 52" LCD because it is a little to big to fit in the same space as my old 50" plasma. I can fit the 46" but would rather wait a few months if a 50" LCD will be coming out. Anyone know of this?

i have not heard of a 50 inch sony coming out any time soon... go for the 46inch XBR, you won't be disappointed.

Perhaps the OP is thinking of the new "4100" models. The frames appear to be fairly narrow. See: http://www.hdtvlounge.net/sony/2008-hdtv-lineup/

Thanks, I have looked at the Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR5 and will probably go with it if nothing in the 50" range is available. I wish Sony would streamline their dimensions and get rid of that clear frame around the TV. Oh well, next generation I guess.

Are you kidding?! I LOVE THE BEZEL FRAME! Makes the set look like it's floating or something...very classy look. I've received lots of comments because of it. I love the styling of Sony TV's.

I believe the new xbrs are dropping the clear bezel (personally I love it). They are also re-organizing the top-end models -- the high end will be Z line followed by W followed by XBR. No idea why.

Here's the full scoop:

IMO bezel/frame in curent level is just a cheap way to hide disadvantages of 'small' panel size.
My tv SHINES without any stupid bezel. I hate em. sorry.

Default why you don't get the new panasonic

I think the new pana plasmas are going to be the best option and the best tvs of 2008, like the Viera TH-50PZ800U, the contrast resolutions are amazing plus they are THX certify

I dont understand why would they rank XBR 3rd or 4th after being the top of the line for the first 3,4 years??

and Z only comes in 40 and 46"!

Well, all Sonys are going to have worse screens on their LCDs with the new Sharp screen production partnership.

Default Tom Petty sez - the waiting's the hardest part.

Hmmm, on the Z series... Image contrast enhancement? Will this mean better blacks over the XBR series? What about pricing? I've been drooling over a 46 or 52 XBR4 for months now... but now I'm tempted to wait for a 46 or 52 W4100... Will the torture never end???

hey, can anyone tell me what to do with my Fujitsu 50" plasmavision that no longer works....do I just put it out in the trash? Seems so wasteful and bad for the environment.
