Default Blu-ray formats

What screen formats are Blu-ray discs in? Full-screen or widescreen.

It depends. Some are full and some are wide. The members of these forums will elaborate the details for you.

they are all widescreen.

blu rays do not come in the classic full screen garbage that was released when the 4:3 tv (non hd tv) was the norm....now that widescreen tvs are the norm, it only makes sense that movies only be released in their original widescreen ratios...

the only blu rays that are 'full screen' which by the way is a term that is going to go out of use, are the day the earth stood still, casablanca, etc....OLD, OLD movies that were originally filmed in 4:3

Well, technically wouldn't fullscreen be 16:9?

Why do some some movies have those annoying black lines on the top and bottom of the screen. why can't all the movies fit the whole screen.
