Default Exchanged my LCD for a Plasma!!!!!

WOW I use to bad mouth Plasma but OMG the picture is 1000X better than my LCD. I exchanged a 47LG50 with 60HZ for a TH-50PZ80U which is a Panasonic 50in 1080p 480HZ its incredible, the picture is so real and vivid. I did alot of research and the Panasonic TH-50PZ80U is one of the most popular TVs in america!

LG has some of the poorest rated LCD screens, that is why you had such a big jump in PQ

I still prefer my LCD over Plasma

Great choice!

Now only if more consumers would follow their eyes instead of the advice of salesmen trying to make an extra buck...

Congratulations. Now you'll have to watch everything you own, again, just to see how much better it looks.

Finally someone that gets it. Plasmas HAVE and WILL always be the better tv. Samsung's 8 series and Sony's XBR 8 cant touch the high end Panny's. If I were you I would go back and get the 85 series with the higher contrast ratio. Its worth it. Welcome to reality man!

The top of the line plasmas outperform the top of the lcd's. This is universally excepted. As for the LG statement, what reviews justify that? They don't rank at the top of the list, and yes Samsung and Sony lcd's outperform them in general, but to say that they get the poorest reviews is a serious exaggeration. Not only do I own an LG lcd, but I compared it side by side to many other lcd's and a few plasmas and the picture quality is definitely good. It was better than all of the non-Sony and Samsung lcd's in the store and it even looked better than some of the plasmas in the store. The LG's biggest weakness is the black level which isn't great but it isn't bad either. Color accuracy and sharpness are very good, and off angle viewing is very good for an lcd. Yes, LG is not the cream of the crop, but there are many tv's out there that can't light a candle to LG's lcd's, and this year's models are greatly improved with much higher contrast ratios and better black levels. With all of this said, I still upgraded to a Panasonic plasma as my main tv, because it was clearly a step up from the majority of lcd's out there, and I compared it to many different lcd's side by side...the difference was enormous.

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference of the contrast ratio my friend. If the contrast ratio is so important, then why is Pioneer the best plasma. I does not matter if its the 80 or 85 he has a great television.

I just bought a Panasonic TH-50PZ80U and I love it. I had a Panasonic 42" before but this Panasonic TH-50PZ80U 50" is awesome. I tried LCD and seems all that I seen had some pixel lag. I will always get plasma.

Panasonic TH-50PZ80U, Sony BDP-S300, and a Toshiba A3

Apparently somebody doesn't know about comparing contrast ratios across brands.

Holy cow, I might just have to follow in your footsteps. This is a very affordable 1080p plasma. I have the Samsung 50" 720p and it was $800.. $1400 seems very reasonable for the jump in resolution without sacrificing screen size!
