Default 1 HDMI Cable - What Connection?

I only had a display for 720p and was just making a connection to BD player via component. I used the HDMI cable for connection from BD player to my Onkyo SR605 amp for the audio.

What is my best connection now since I got a 1080p display?

BTW, I cannot access the link up in the sticky for HT connection from my present location so I'm asking here.

HDMI into Onkyo from BDP, HDMI out Onkyo into TV.

The resolution of your set (720p vs 1080p) makes NO difference as to how you should connect your equipment. HDMI is the cleanest and best way to connect digital gear. One cable from your BD player to the 605, another from the 605 to your TV. Buy all your cables from Monoprice.com and NEVER buy Monster!

I figured I needed two HDMI cables. Thanks for the replies.

How does the HDMI connection from AVR to display know to use 1080p as best available resolution?

You adjust it in the BDP play I believe? I believe it just passes the video signals through and only plays with audio.

Your AVR simply passes the video signal through. You set the resolution in your BD player settings.

Thanks folks. So there is no loss of PQ then instead of hooking my BD player straight to the display?

Nope. Your AV Receiver only likes to play with the sound.
