TrueHD not working on Onkyo TX-SR606 with HDMI cable connection, why? - Blu-ray Forum

Hello,

I have been trying to fix this issue for days,
I have a network media tank HDX1000 (a multimedia pc) which streams to my Onkyo TX-RS606 receiver legal m2ts files which some have trueHD audio on monster hd700 HTMI cable.

previously I used optical connection because I couldn't hear any audio via HDMI, then i found this forum and turned off the "HDMI Audio Out" feature as suggested here and now audio streams work - even DTS-MA (HD), thanks.

But, trueHD just doesn't work - I have legal sample of m2ts which was released by DD of Dave Matteus Band and the receiver just doesn't display it's trueHD icon when this media is streamed, also no sound is played.

I'd love to know if someone knows anything in order to make things work here?

been trying things and tweaks for day, also if anyone has other truehd samples that i can test on.

It may be that the multimedia PC is doing the audio decoding for you, thus the TrueHD icon will not appear on the receiver. Same as with a PS3.

But the problem is that no sound can be heard, as if there's no file being played.
I really wonder why does this happen when DTS-MA plays fine, this may be a damaged sample file and if someone has any other TrueHD sample, that'll really shed some light on weather the issue is with the sample file.

Problem Solved.

Seems like my trueHD file was not TrueHD but a corrupted version of it, the other file I thought was trueHD ended being a flac audio file.

I eventually got 2 new samples of trueHD and DD+ and they sound and work great!

Seems like I didn't need the optical connection in the first place.

After enabling HDMI Audio via the onkyo's miscolanious menu and setting HDMI audio out to OFF - all I needed was to get another sample.

Just posting this information incase someone has the same problem and comes here in the future - there are currupted truehd files amnd media everywhere - if you have only one sample and it doesn't work - get more!

hope I helped someone, I was struggling with this for weeks!
