Cool HD-DVD Supporter - Kinda - Hi!

Found both the Blue Ray and HD-DVD camps on a search one day and have been reading over them thoroughly. Just wanted to stop in and say hi and make a post.

I am not here to bash any format or company. I am just making a post.

I origionally backed HD-DVD for the sheer fact that it was NOT a SONY product. I have had some really bad experiences with Sony and quite frankly, I want nothing to do with them. So, I chose the HD-DVD format.

I also recently purchased Planet Earth - Pre-Ordered on HD-DVD. I only did this because I got a great deal on it that I could not pass up ($55.00 bux). However, I am no longer sure of things now.

I have seen both formats at play and they both look great. I chose the HD-DVD format because it was not a Sony product and it's cost effectiveness in regards to being similar to standard DVD's. Blue Ray on the other hand has a much higher capacity than HD-DVD. We all know bigger is better. My heat would not let me beleive in a Sony product tho.

As of now, I am split. 60% of me thinks the Sony product is better because of it's size. Again, more is better. 40% of me thinks HD-DVD is better because it's not a Sony product and its easier for duplication again since its based on SDVD's. Either way, I don't know anymore.

I hope that by the end of the year, there is a "winner" in this "war" so I don't have to waste money. The only HD dvd I have purchased was planet earth. I guess I am not in any camp. I hate having to pick sides and I don't beleive people should be doing "group buys" just to make the numbers look better.

Anyways, its good to read all the info and be able to make a choice. The problem is if your choice is the right one. For now I will stick with SDVD's and stay away from boxed sets until a "winner" is announced. Then again, there may be no winner and both formats may continue on until a NEW NEW format takes over. Who knows?

Anyways, thanks for listening!
