Using PS2 controller on my PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I was wondering if anyone out there has had any success with using a PS2 controller or DDR pad on their PS3. I bought a $10 connector on ebay and my PS3 won't recognize my PS2 controller. I have found quotes around the internet from people saying that they've gotten similar devices to work, but no one states how. Can anyone lend some tips or advice?

probly wont work i would just spend 36.99 on a ps3 one

By buddy brought up a usb controller that looked just like a dualshock but was made for the pc by an aftermarket company. It worked fine to navigate through home, but failed to recognize for games.

If update 1.7 added rumble support for ps2 games, then there has to be a way to use the controller with the ps3.

Well I'm really trying to get our Dance Dance Revolution pad working with our PS3 so I can sell the PS2. Any thoughts?

U have to wait for the NYKO release of their PS3 game adapter which will allow the use of the dual shock, ddr pad or guitar hero controllers on ur PS3...its scheduled for a 2 quarter 2007 release......Ive been waiting to play guitar hero I and II on my PS3 since I heard of this release...

You might want to go to PS3Forums.com for all gaming details, including the PS2 controller adapter. While we do have people using the PS3, we probably are not too heavy in gaming.

i dont know about that....I see many PS3 threads everyday on here....hell, I bet half the people here us it as their stand alone blu ray player like myself....THe PS3 is blu ray, without it, HD DVD prolly be kicking our butts....It deserves some attention, it will break hd dvd.......

I got a PS2 to PS3 joystick adapter from Radio Shack. After updating to software rev 1.7 the vibration function works great for GT4. It was all plug and play.

The problem being that the shoulder buttons (L2 & R2) are different on the PS3 from the PS2, although their usage depends on the game I suppose.
