Default Any news on these John Carpenter titles?

They Live
Prince of Darkness
Big Trouble in Little China

Really looking forward to getting these on blu, considering the excellent transfer of The Thing.

I'm not gonna fight to say The Thing is a good movie (one of my personal faves) but the TRANSFER is immaculate. You cannot deny that fact.

Really? Worse than Vampires? Ghosts of Mars? And let's not forget the masterpiece Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

Give me Prince of Darkness over those any day.

Well if you put it that way.
I grew up with Carpenter. Saw Halloween in the theatres and just went ballistic with it's simple brilliance. I see John Carpenter in three phases:
Good Carpenter: HALLOWEEN, THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM N.Y, THE THING, CHRISTINE.
Meh Carpenter: Starman, Big Trouble In Little China, Prince of Darkness, They Live.
WTF was that Carpenter: Memoires of an Invisible Man, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, Vampires, Ghosts of Mars.

IMO obviously. And I actually enjoyed Escape from L.A. To me that was Carpenter being Carpenter.

Funny thing is...I think Big Trouble in Little China is his best soundtrack. Go figure.

I would agree with that list there.
I saw Halloween in theaters as well and have been a Carpenter fan ever since also.
I like Escape from L.A. too. Carpenter having fun indeed.
I would even move In The Mouth of Madness up to the meh section
The Fog is one I'm eagerly anticipating in HD. I'm almost to the point of buying the European HD-DVD release soon. (Yep, I have one of them too)

I was lucky enough to meet the man last summer. Great guy.

Come on They Live is a cult favorite if there's such a thing. Piper was great in that movie.

Last time I saw it was in theatres. Maybe I need to see it again. I definately always respect your opinion Blu Titan. I just remember that the story, cheesy effects and the music were great. Yet thought it was a case of bad casting.

Big Trouble in Little China? Worst?

While I can see how some would call it a B-movie, it has it's moments. I must admit it's a guilty pleasure movie for me, I've loved it since I was a kid.
