Default John Carpenter on HDNet

I just finished watching The Fog on HDNet. Now, it wasn't great - there was haloing from EE, the fine grain turned into an ugly blocky mess toward the end, there were some missing frames and print damage, and the audio occasionally went out of sync. But there was some notably increased detail and the color was great. It's certainly the best I'd seen the movie look, and Dean Cundey's wonderful cinematography leapt off the screen (Did I mention it was in OAR?).

Then I saw the promo stating that next Wednesday, They Live will be playing. Can't wait!

Now, I know there was a foreign BD release of The Fog, but I'd also heard it wasn't handled all that well. Still, this has really made me excited for a Region A release. Especially if given a high bitrate (and a slightly better source print), this movie could look great!

They showed "They Live" a week or two ago I remember and it did look pretty cool! Meg Foster aka "Evil-lyn" Looked Very Beautiful in 1080i IMO (Those eye's of Hers are a bit Spooky). it would be so cool if this film was out on blu before Halloween.

Caught this last night and thought it looked great for the most part. I was surprised but a lot of the scenes looked like they would be up to par with the Halloween blu-ray if it were ever released.

I can't imagine what was on last night is from the same master that the hd dvd and blu-ray are. Especially with all the complaints. Can anyone confim this?

Will import the BD in a hearbeat if they are the same!

Agree!

I've seen The Fog a few times before but never really paid attention to the colors and lighting Cundley used. WOW! In HD everything looked awesome. Lots of primaries poppin off the screen. Almost thought I was watching Suspiria for a second. Ha!

This definitely needs a proper Blu release! PLEASE!

One of the all-time great old fashion ghost stories.

"11:55. Almost midnight. Enough time for one more story. One more story before 12:00. Just to keep us warm."
