... As far as I know (from various interviews both Nolans have given and Eckhart as well), he is indeed six feet under.

I think it was more like a keep the fans on their toes type of thing. The funny thing is, theres no way the next Batman movie will be nearly as hyped mostly because there is no bigger villain in the Batman series, than the Joker

Well, to be fair, a fair amount of the initial hype (i.e. pre-release) over "The Dark Knight" was not quite as much for the Joker as it was for the death of Heath Ledger and that this was his last completed performance.

It would be so stupid to keep two face dead imo, he is one of the biggest bad guys in Batman, and his one moments in the new films is a forced 15 minutes that made the film feel dragged out?

I really hope he comes back, because Eckhart is the man.

Well, according to the key forces behind the film, there's a reason he's not moving at the end and is not coming back (at least not in a Christopher Nolan-helmed entry).

Yep, I certainly think he is still alive. He will probably be at least mentioned in the next movie. I don't think that fall would have killed him. He will probably be locked away for good. Remember Gotham can't afford the city to see Harvey as Two Face because he was a hero. If he resurfaced that could make for an interesting storyline just from that idea. I'm not so sure he will have a big part in the next movie but I think they will mention him (alive in jail).

Well when I first saw the film I thought he was still alive because no one checked his pulse they just ASSUMED he was dead then he would have a big come back in the next film...then I saw the interviews when they said he was dead and I did a big WTF.

Yeah, I figured Two-Face would be alive. There were little hints to he was alive (i.e the coin landing good side up and the fact that Batman felt didn't die from the same distance) I hope Eckhart returns, he did a great job with the character and I wanted to see more of Two-Face.

Well, he looked dead and according to those behind the camera was/is dead so for anyone hoping to see a comeback for the character would first have to wish for Christopher Nolan and Co. to jump ship... or else it ain't happenin'.

That's the story they chose to tell and that's how it is.

The movie was hyped before Ledger's death. Do you really think that the amount of people who wanted to see Ledger's last on screen performance and had no interest in TDK is what pushed it to it's glory? Are they the one's who made it rake in more than $530 million? NO. The movie was hyped back when Ledger was first announced as the Joker and when the first shots of the movie came out. It received more press because of his death, but not ticket sales. I admit it might have had some influence, but not the kind people make it out to be. Still would have broke $500 million easy.

If that were the case, Bernie Mac's last movie would have made a ton don't you think? He died before his film with Samuel L. Jackson was released. How much did it make? I can't even remember the name of the movie so I dunno? Batman Begins didn't do big it's first few weeks but word of mouth got around and it picked up steam and a lot of people pruchased the DVD because word of mouth. Everyone saw a new and improved Batman and thus, started building up the hype for the next one, especially with the cliffhanger of Gordon reaching Batman the Joker card and saying that he would look into it. That is what started the hype for TDK.

The entire ending of TDK would be ruined and would be meaningless if Two-Face was alive. Nolan said he was dead. He is dead. I wish he wasn't and TDK ended a different way so he could be back in the next one, but he is not, He is dead.

It seemed to me that, for all intents and purposes, Two Face is dead. However, the scene was kept ambiguous enough that he could be brought back in the future should the story warrant his return. But I agree with Nolan that the Dark Knight had to end with his (at least apparent) death. The whole story arc of the movie was the rise and fall of Harvey Dent, and how that relates to Bruce Wayne/Batman. And each movie is designed to be its own story, not necessarily part of an ongoing whole.

The Dark Knight isn't Ledger's last performance, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus set for release sometime in 2009 is.

I really wish they would find a way to use Two-Face again, but I'm sure they won't Either way if Nolan decides to use Riddler or Catwoman in the next film I'm skipping it. I'd rather see the Ventriloquist the one of those 2. At least he' be a little more realistic.

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know how I forgot that. I use it in a lot of discussions usually saying that movie should make a ton since it is his last true performance.

Slight clarification: "The Dark Knight" is Heath Ledger's last completed/full performance.

There is nothing that unrealistic about the characters of the Riddler or Catwoman (they are just as believable or realistic as Batman himself). Now, other characters like the Penguin though are iffier beasts...

I agree on the Riddler. Just play him as a criminal who gets off on playing mind games with the police and Batman. Perfectly "realistic" enough for a Nolan Batman film. Catwoman's a bit more iffy, but certainly do-able (keep your minds out of the gutters. You know what I mean... )

As for the Penguin, what's unrealistic about him? He's just a guy in a suit with an umbrella fetish. I think people get hung up on the Burton/DeVito version of the character. That's not what the Penguin is normally like.

Why is Catwoman at all iffy? I'm of course not referring to the Tim Burton-version, of course which is pure fantasy due to the way she is... you know, "revived."
