Default Sh&t like this keeps the war alive

I know this sounds somewhat insignificant but anyways my recent paper includes a Best Buy promotional booklet that is about 20 pages long every Sunday. In this booklet, they advertise all of their products and special deals and so forth. This week they have a huge section for upscaling players, and a small section for HD-DVD, but there is no mention of Blu-ray whatsoever...none. As a store I do realize that Best Buy sells blu-rays and some people have reported that some stores have more BDs than they do DUDs, but this type of inconsistency in advertising and support is what is making adopters like me crazy, and the general public confused as hell about high def movies.

rant over...

It sounds more like the Best Buy we have always known. They are not a leading storefront. Best Buy is an overpriced, behind the times store.

They are a 7-11 consumer electronic store. Their sale prices are not that good. The price of Blu Ray films are rediculously high. So why do people keep shopping there? Convenience.

Why would you think this promotion is Best Buy's idea with no input from HD DVD? Like endcaps, I'd expect promotions like this to paid for, or at least partly paid for, by the HD DVD group.

Cool

My theory is they advertise hd-dvd not bluray because the red cases sit on the shelves, while blus are being sold all the time.

Even Best Buy doesn't want to be left holding these things when the general public chooses Blu Ray nearly 2:1.

Why do you think they continue to lower the prices on the players and give away the software constantly. What's the current sale 9 free movies with purchase of player? (not kidding, seriously)
