Default New apartment = New home theater/living room... what do you think?

Just moved into a new place and finally got a few pictures of the new home theater/living room setup. Cleaner and less cluttered than my last setup, I think, although I need to hide a few wires still. Check out the gallery and let me know what you think!

Default Exposed wires

"Raceways" - see my JUNE 2009 updated pics for how they can look. Very easy to install (they snap apart to slide the wires inside & then snap shut). We have similar Surround speakers (* EDIT: I have Monitor 30's *) & the Raceways work & look great to clean up the look. Home Depot carries them in packages or by themselves. The package came with I believe 3 straight runs & 2 corner runs & a couple other pieces. Their sticky backs will Easily hold them in place. I'm sure other hardware stores have them as well, as I saw a similar product at my local store recently. Good luck & great TV stand.

Also, since you live in an Apartment, you may want to try this stand here to raise up your sub. For $23, you can't go wrong. It took literally 5 mins to put together; the legs came with screws in the end that you screwed into pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the table.

The Sub sounds amazingly better that high off the ground (table is 20x20x17H), & I have the SubDude on top, and today I just put 2 15x17x2" pieces of foam Under it to further isolate it. Just an idea with Neighbors below, plus the sound works better with it raised off the floor - be it 3" (with the SubDude) or 21" (Table/SubDude). I'll have new pics of how it looks soon.

Thanks for the suggestions... I knew there was something like the Raceways, I just didn't know where to look... I'll check out Home Depot the first chance I get, because at the moment I can't STAND seeing wires like that.

Yea, someone here directed me to them also. VERY easy to work with, & I just used a hacksaw to cut them in the few spots I needed to (corner sections). Make sure to get the Plastic ones as they come in Metal also.

Thanks a lot for the help and suggestions.... I assume I could probably come up with a way to mount them on the wall without the sticky backing, like with screws or something? Even if there aren't re-drilled holes, I think I could work that out... the apartment complex doesn't want sticker-type stuff being used as it can tear off the finish of the walls.

Oh yea--didnt' think of that one! I don't see why not, just using 3 or so screws (top, middle, bottom) should work as well once you find/mark where they'll go on the walls.

Nice set-up and I see you widen the front soundstage now, with some toe-in from the fronts. This should help you a good bit with your AQ. I do want to suggest a better location for your center speaker. If another spot is not possible, then some how direct it down towards your couch, where you sit. I can't think but that you are missing some dialogue from it being up there. One last thing, could you move the sub to the left side of the entertainment center so you could provide yourself with a little more walk room where the doors are on the right? It looks like you would have the room on the left and it might work out better over there. Aerodude will set you up with the raceways for your wiring, so just follow his lead. Nice job overall!

I hear you guys on the center... what you can't tell from the pics, though, is that the center is actually angled down slightly. It's about an inch or so higher in the back than in the front... it still isn't enough in my opinion, but until I can modify the shelving so that it'll hold the center channel in place, it'll have to do for now. If I can get a pic of the angling at some point I will. Thanks again!

IF you can swing it (so it doesn't go Over the edge of the shelf!), Driver King recently posted a great little fix to angling ones Center speaker: Go to Wal Mart or your local hardware store, find a couple Door Stops, prop them up behind your Center. Mission Accomplished. $4-6 tops!

I got the mounts at Best Buy... they are Init Brand, good for speakers up to about 8 lbs. Here's a link to the BB site if you want a little more info.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1202649766845

They were really easy to install, and they work with multiple different types of speakers. My Polks, for example, have keyhole mounting, and these units worked great for them.

Thanks for the input! I'm looking to mount my JBL speaker and shopping around for speaker mount.

No problem... a 2-pack is 32.99, I think, and a 5-pack is like 69.99 or something... i can get a close up picture of one of them if you'd like. Just let me know!
