Default Apartment Living Room Home Theater

Modest home theater in the living room of my apartment. We like it quite a lot

Well, since I'm in college the neighbors are pretty tolerable. The only real issue is above/below us...they didn't like The Dark Knight too much

The 3808 is great. I'm running the PS3, so unfortunately I can't take advantage of Bitstreaming and letting the 3808 handle decoding the audio codecs, but the sound is fantastic. I also love the GUI features that accompany the 3808...it makes for a very slick setup experience and tweaking things isn't bad at all.

I would recommend you get a Harmony if you don't have one though, because the default remote for the thing is a pain, unless you are doing advanced setup which requires it.

Love your gallery. I'm also in an apartment and have to always be vigilant about disturbing neighbors or putting things in the walls. I live in a 4-plex, so the person under me is the only concern and I don't think she hears much (she's like 92 years-old). It's the sub that she probably hears most of the time.

By the way, where can I get those things that cloak the wiring along the wall?

I really dig that component shelving and all that you've done there. Looks pretty nice, and you've got nice equipment. But... (I hate to say this) ...

your surrounds are crooked. Looks like it's only an inch or so but I noticed it right off and it kinda bugs me.

Haha aramis...that may well be the case. It's really difficult though, because nothing was build straight in this apartment. Like, the floor isn't level, and neither is the door frame.

JamesKurtovich, I picked up the wire covers at home depot - they work great and do a really nice job masking the wiring. They are also inexpensive compared to the alternative. I'll have a lot of painting cost though when I move out, because I'm pretty sure the paint will come right off the wall with them when they are removed

And Shines...yeah, I'm almost positive we need something there, but I've been struggling to figure out what to put there, and what to put on it. The shelves in the back are already filled with sea stuff as a placeholder haha but really they need something more. They used to have dvds, and then our roommate with all the dvd's moved out, so now they are blank. Same with the main cabinet (hence all the extra space)

That's a pretty tight set up. I tucked my speaker wire under the base boards, I'm in an apartment as well. I need to go back and completely rewire my 4 surrounds because I ran short on wire and had to splice so now I get some speaker hum, which totally drives me nuts. I need to pick up another roll from monoprice to finish the job. My current tv stand is a wiring nightmare because it's completely open...

looks good man! We're in the same boat with the apt. and sort of being handcuffed with our options. You've done some nice work.

Thanks folks. And yeah, I won't be taking any more pictures without the TV on..damn reflection :P

There's only so much you can do in an apartment, but luckily my neighbors are pretty good, so they don't mind the 7.1, and it's an awesome way to enjoy a movie.

Perhaps one day, a house and serious home theater, but for now this will have to do
