Okay here's my story...
Dec 20th, received my Onkyo TX-SR806 from Amazon.com. Get the blue pixel issue... can't stand it, return it 3 weeks later. Early January, I get the Denon AVR-2809CI from Ultimate Electronics (friend works there) to replace the Onkyo and it keeps dropping sound and video occasionally. I return it with no problem... A week later, I order the Denon AVR-2309CI from 6th Ave. I had no speakers to test it with but it still drops video and sound like the 2809CI. When my new speakers arrived, I still got the sound and video drop issue. I Google "Denon AVR-2309CI Sony KDL-52XBR4" and I find some forum posts on AVSforum about an issue regarding audio and video dropout specifically with the Sony KDL series and Denon AVRs. Today, I just ordered the Onkyo TX-SR806 again. From what I've read, they've finally fixed the blue pixel issue, if my new one still has it, I can send it in so they can replace the HDMI board. Once it arrives, I will send the Denon AVR-2309CI back to 6th Ave. |

Ok, When I was looking for a new reciever, I had my hopes set on the 806. Except that Blue-dot issue was the only reason for scarring me off. Not that I just decided I didn't want to order it, just I was skeptical and hesitant. I did some research...a lot. I found some forums with some people over in the UK sending in their 806's to have the HDMI board replaced with a new one that would rid the 806 of the Blue dot issue. It was essentially a hardware mod that could be done by either Onkyo or a authorized repair center. So I did some more research, and apparently they've been doing this since around late november. NOT SURE if it's relevant to the states. You can certainly call Onkyo and ask. But if it does work out, I'm sure you could send it to them or an authorized repair center to fix it. I'm guessing about a two week turn around, but not sure. AGAIN, I'm NOT sure if this would pertain to the states. The way I see it, their doing it in the UK, surely the States would have some action about this too.
