Not surprising at all....

Hopefully this won't negatively affect R&D and their schedule for new products. That is probably wishful thinking though.

That's a shame. Panasonic is one of the best electronics manufacturers out there. My brother-in-law recently got a 50" Panasonic plasma, and I might get a Panasonic display in the future.

Nearly every huge corporation is doing some kind of employment reduction this year. Not too much of a surprise. I hope it helps keep Panasonic profitable, because they make some excellent TVs, Blu-ray players, and the best DJ turntables in the world.

Almost all. Those involved in gold mining are doing OK. In the past few weeks I've seen three secondary placements for miners that trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange and another for a bullion holding closed-end ETF.
