Default Question about Resistance 2 Controls

I've discovered that while I'm playing if I push forward to move, my character inexplicably begins turning toward the left. Sometimes it appears to be worse than others, and I can't figure out why (occasionally it isn't happening at all). I did a google search and it doesn't seem that this could be caused by the sixaxis tilt functionality.

It can actually be fairly frustrating, as you must constantly be correcting to the right while moving to actually run in a straight line.

I've checked to ensure that when the game loads, the analog sticks are not pressed. and the character isn't moving constantly even when I'm not pressing on the analog sticks.

I'm fairly new to FPS. Resistance 1 was the first one I enjoyed enough to actually play all the way through...so I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing about how these things work.

Anybody have any ideas?

I've never heard of this happening with a console game. I had it happend to me with a PC game several years ago. I would try resetting your controller. If that doesn't work then I would try playing the game with a different controller altogether, or try playing a different FPS game with the same controller and see what happens. Good luck with it.

It might be your controller. The controller that came with my ps3 started doing that after a while, but that was maybe because I was playing it like 5 hrs a day

Resistance 2 doesn't use the SIXAXIS tilting so that's not the problem.

When you push forward on the left stick you should go straight forward as long as you're not tilting the right stick in any direction. If you're accidentally tilting the right analog stick to the left, it'll cause your character to strafe towards the left. The further your tilt it, the more you strafe. Maybe this is what's happening to you?

Make sure neither analog stick is depressed and reset your controller. That'll reset the 0 degree mark. Should fix your problem

This. Otherwise you may need a replacement.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check it out in further detail and see if I can get it to work properly.

This has happened to both wireless GameCube (Wii) controllers I used to play the Metriod Prime games. It was really annoying and there was no cure. I just lived with it rather than buy another controller.

So far no issues with either of my PS3 controllers and neither are the new style.

The game still does; when a Leaper gets on your face, you just shake the controller and he's off.
