Default 5.1 Setup for My HT

Hey guys,

So I'm setting up my first home theater and I had a question about speaker placement for a 5.1 system. I know what a traditional system should look like, but my setup is not in a large enough room to allow the surrounds to be on my side. I mounted them on the rear wall pointing down and toward the center seat, much like crazyBLUE did with his rears. Here is a picture I drew in paint.

The TV is on a desk with the fronts and center and the sub is under the desk. The skinny black box next to the desk is the door. The red square is my futon bed which we position as a couch when watching movies. The purple objects are the speakers. The gray box in the corner is my computer cabinet and receiver stand, while the black box is a bookshelf. The green is a closet up to the ceiling...this is why I can't mount the speakers to the side.

Are there any suggestions on a better setup?

2 options for your surrounds other than back wall.

1 get 2 ceiling projector mounts from monoprice and hang them on the sides from the ceiling angling toward your listening position.

2 Get to high stands and place them on the sides so you can still open your
closet door

just a couple options i can think of

Yea I wanted to mount them on the ceiling but I have "popcorn" ceiling and it didn't work so well. I just ended up with them on m back wall, pointed down and to the center of the bed.

Maybe mount one on the wall and then use this guys idea for a stand. Should be fairly cheap.

This seems like A good idea ! I'd try it to get more of the surround affect from you're setup .

And hey, I see in your sig you bi-amped the surrounds? If you can I'd recommend changing that to bi-ampin the fronts. A very high percentage of the sound comes from the fronts.
