Default Definitive Technology Speaker Suggestions

Hey guys I'm kinda new to this scene, but I was wondering if I could have your guys opinion.

I was thinking of getting the ProCinema 600 set at first to start off my home theater system. But than I was thinking if it would be better to piece my system together by getting the definitive technology floor standing speakers. I can borrow a center channel and a receiver to go with the 2 floor standing speakers and than slowly add on as I go.

Any opinions would be good. Thanks for your guys help.

I'd do that.....

What "Floor-standers" are you looking at? What's your budget?

In my experience, I've found it more beneficial to add as you go.

7002 would be great but maybe out of your budget. The BP6's, BP8's would also be great options. The nice thing about the 7002's, 7004's, and 7006's is they have built in subs. Check out 6save.com and try to find a coupon code for a discount. No matter what Def Tech you decide on, you will be happy.

Also anyone here these speakers MYTHOSTWOB before. One more thing, would I need to get a amp to power these speakers or would a receiver with 110 watts be sufficient.

bib2122,

I pieced my setup together little by little because I wanted to have a sweet setup and did not want to compromise on anything. I love the 7004's, I would have gotten the 7002's but I knew I was going to get a supercube so I just went with the 04's.

Take it little by little, and when you have your whole setup you will be much happier than if you just got a htib or some package set.

The Mythos Two(left/right) & Mythos Three(center) can be driven by the average receiver( as little as 10 Watts (RMS) per channel will deliver adequate listening levels in most rooms ). "from the Mythos Two/Three manual".

I'm using them in my bedroom. I upgraded from the Pro Cinema 600 5.1 system to the Mythos system. An improvement in my opinion.

You can't go wrong with Def Tech, no matter what you get. I'd recommend dumping most of your budget on a nice reciever (like the Onkyo 806 that's on Amazon for about $620). Start out with the ProCinema600's (I think the set costs around $600?). This will keep you under budget.

I have the Mythos Gems for my front L&R and back L&R with a Mythos 7 for my center. Next I plan to get a Supercube 3 sub to replace my old Sony 135W unit . Really there about the best I've heard for the money, plus they look really nice.

Hope this helps!

That's a nice setup you have there Blu_Ray_Fan.

I had another question, if I did get the DefTechs BP7006BLA, what center channel and rear surround speakers would match well?

I would go with the C/L/R 2300 to match the 4.5inch drivers. And for surrounds, I would go with the BP1.2x's. Check out THIS! The nice thing about DefTech is they have system recommendations for all of there speakers.

I plan on upgrading my towers soon to the 7002's. Then eventually getting anothere SuperCube 1.

One more thing. Since the BP7006 has built in subs, would you still need to add a stand alone sub or would the 7006 be sufficient for your low end?

Agree. Like I said, I have a SuperCube 1 and plan on getting 2 7002's. Then eventually another SC1.

By the way, thanks for rating my HT. But a 9.5! lol j/k. Seriously, thanks again.

So I went down to a local store to check out what they had and the guy there was telling me maybe I should go with some other speakers.

He suggested that I go with ProCinema1000 for the two front channels. ProCinema800 for the rear surrounds. ProCenter1000. This setup would be be about $1,000. I could upgrade the to a ProCenter2000 for $115 extra.

Wondering if this would be a good system or any ideas on what other speakers I should swap out.

Also I was wondering if the SM350 speakers were good and how they compared to the ProCinema1000 speakers. They were only $50 more for a pair. They only difference is that they are bigger so they would need a bigger stand to place them on.

Thanks
