Default Onkyo 605, HDMI Input and Output

Hi all,

I have the great Onkyo 605, and have a question..

I have my Laptop hooked up to it to play the odd Region B blu-ray title, which goes into the HDMI2 port, and then through to the TV obivouslly.. What I would like to know, is when I use the HDMI in, can I use a different output rather than HDMI Out? Like just a regular RCA output?

I'd like to play my laptop through my amp, into my DVD Recorder, (to record the odd game I play, or divx video I play) which only has Scart, S-Video and RCA input. My laptop has VGA, HDMI and DV output, and HDMI seems like the easiest output, (one cable).

I have the 605 and it can't down convert. If you use HDMI IN from the laptop you can only use the HDMI OUT on the receiver. If you use component cables then it can be output over either component, s-video, or composite.

Haha, yea I'm loving it! I'm sure the neighbors below me are not. Once I move out I will have a proper room for my home theater and then I can take advantage of better speakers. Thanks again!
