Default My US PS3 won't play 25 FPS Blu-ray's

I live in Norway and I saved a lot of money by buying my PS3 from the states. Up until now the problem with region coding has been minimal. Most movies are released both in the US and Europe, and a lot of the movies are region free.

But this weekend I encountered a new problem... Nobel Entertainment in Sweden have begun to release their Blu-ray's in 1080i50 (25 FPS), and these won't play on my US PS3. Even though they are region free. Anyone know how I can get these movies to work on my PS3?

I'm planning on buying a region B player in a couple of months, but would like to see my new movies today.

Ah, shouldn't have done that.

I didn't know the PS3 would have a physical problem playing 50hz Blu Ray material. That's silly.

I'm still frustrated that Keane: Live is encoded at 1080i50 (25 FPS). You'd think the blu-ray format specs would ensure that a blu-ray disc could play universally in every BD player (**** studio region codes notwithstanding).

Hopefully this is something a simple firmware can fix.

Yeah, I've been hoping for that as well. I see that more and more movies have this encoding, so Sony should get this in the next PS3 update.

90% of video device in NA don't support 50i. Even a lot of LCD Tv, Plasma etc don't support it here (but support both in Europe). Samsung Blu-ray Player do support it tought. from the 1000 to the 1500 (didn't try the 1600).

did you try to ensure 24hz was turned off? possibly that is the only thing i can think of that might cause a problem.

Yep, I tried that as well. I also read on another forum that if you turned off the 1080p and 1080i settings (only leaving the 720p) on your PS3 it would work. But this didn't help either.
