Default Knock on wood but...

Am I the only one who has noticed that there doesn't seem to be a huge defect problem with PS3's? I just remember when the PS2 came out there were people constantly returning them. Then the 360 came out and we're all familiar with the "red rings of death."

I'm just a bit surprised (pleasantly) that I haven't heard more horror stories of defective PS3's. I've had mine for 4 months and, outside of freezing a time or two after extended play, has worked flawlessly.

Kudos to Sony for a well designed, well built product!

yep, a few days ago my 360 broke down on me, took it in to Best Buy cuz it was under warranty, got a replacement but decided to upgrade to 360 elite, wasn't much different with HDMI connection because 360 isn't design for 1080p graphics compare to PS3, watched King Kong HD-DVD and compare it to Pirates Blu-ray, kudos to Pirates for better PQ, wasn't worth the upgrade for the extra $80 plus new warranty $90, also lost all my data from my previous 360 since they couldn't transfer it to Elite.

Have to say my experience has been exactly the same. I had it freeze once on a movie and never anything else.

I've only used my 360 for demo downloads since getting my replacement last November (first one didn't last a year) so I don't know when this one might conk out.

Same here. I've had mine since Christmas and it's only frozen twice on me (not after extended play though - I had just started in both cases). Other than that, I only had an issue while watching Casino Royale (my only Blu-Ray movie) and a firmware update fixed that right up.

I told myself that I would wait a few months to avoid first generation growing pains but when I saw it in the store I couldn't resist. (glad I didn't!)
