Default PS3 upscaling with Fifth Element Ultimate Ed. DVD VS BD Superman Returns

Other than the occasional scratches on the prints, the picture quality for Fifth Element superbit DVD is simply stunning! With upscaling, it's even better looking than some of the blu-ray I've watched, e.g. Superman Returns. I watched both back to back, and all I could say is for the picture quality I got from Fifth Element, the video transfer for Superman Returns is really disappointing.

Maybe Superman Returns was meant to have soft looking pictures in many of its scenes, but still, I remembered reading Bryan Singer's interview, the movie was shot with hi-def camera, and if so, it did not seem like it. For those of you who have seen Crank on blu-ray, you'll know what I mean.

If the superbit DVD for Fifth Element looks this good, I'm drooling for the remastered blu-ray which is coming soon...

As for Superman Returns... who knows, WB will probably republish again and again and again...
