Vizio is realiable, but you get what you pay for. In essence they hold there own, and are cheap, but don't expect to get the same results that you would get with a Sammy or Sony

if you have an older non HDTV then you will be 100% ahead of the game and unlike some of the early adopters you will start out at the top with 1080p. if you have a ps3 or a blu-ray player your set. work on the 5.1 if you don't already have it. live within your means. too many people living in the hugh mc'mansions with the nice cars eating balogna sandwiches, balogna that doesn't have a first name either! if this is what you can afford you should be thankfull you can afford that much. reward yourself and stay to your budget. at this point in your life, if this is your first one, don't worry about sony or sammy, worry about homer. if you can swing it, spend the $28.33 for the extended warrenty. i know most people will tell you it's not worth it but, i had to get a new "display engine" in my HDTV and the total cost parts & labor was $1,200.00 let me tell you, i was glad as FRAK ALL that i picked up that extended warrenty, especially since it was out of the warrenty it came with. best of luck buddy, let me know how it turns out. drop me a line!

I have seen a lot of vizios, they are a lot better now in the PQ area, but they have always done well with Blus and HD Sat/Cable, my father-in-law got one last year and I must admit they are much improved.... Depending on your seating distance, 7ft or more away, you can even go with a 720p HDTV because the resolution won't be as big of a factor anymore, I just picked up a Samsung 32" 720p B series from BB for $550 and it is phenominal, super happy with it.

Check out this thread see if it helps you decide what you want to do... https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=33462

Arrow

Going to get one soon myself, provided my tax return is big enough and I have limited space so probably going to get a 42" or smaller for sure.
