Default new KRP purchase + need advice..help!

KRP-500M + KRP-TS02 (vanns) + OPPO BLURAY PLAYER (amazon) ...total price was $2000 total delivered

All items are on their way as I write this...so I need help:

1. What do I need to do to professionally break in properly?
2. What steps do I take to calibrate it properly? (disc or professional)
3. What settings should I use for all modes and what is recommended?
4. ISF patch : should I get control cal ? If so, what do I need to do?

5. Any soundbar you can recommend that I can use which supports the 3 HD audio streams?

Im not so bright when it comes to the technical side...but getting what I want at a steal...im a professional at that LOL

thanks guys for your help!

My opinions!

1. Break-ins arent a must, many including me have never done it.
2. I would suggest you have a prof callibrator do it.
3. Once your set gets delivered, I would suggest you play with it and find out what modes you might like.
4. Read #2.
5. Get real speakers. For what decent surround bars go for and by that I mean Def Tech's or B&Ws, you can get a fairly decent 5.1 set-up for that kinda dough.

Btw congrats that is an amazing deal!

Everything else is just gravy

Not really. A great picture brings only half the movie experience without great sound too!

Well, if you have an ISF certified pro calibrate your TV, then you don't really need the ISF modes unlocked with Control Cal .

You actually must break it in before you get it calibrated. Getting it ISF calibrated is a good idea, but the color intensities change over the first 500 or so hours, so don't get it calibrated immediately. If you do the colors will change and you will need to get it re-done if you want it looking at its best.

I agree, let your TV break in for a little while before paying money to calibrate.

But ISF is the way to go...check for professionals in your area.

For break in you just need to watch the tv for a few weeks, preferably in HD so that you don't get any bars burned into the screen from 4x3 shows. Other than that just watch it normally and turn the contrast down a bit

The first thing you must do is check for cracks. This set has been known to have cracks upon delivery. Make sure you check the edges of the bezel with flashlight. Lastly an most important enjoy!!!! I have a 600m on the way.

Isn't there a file floating around where you can just burn a break-in video to a VCD/DVD? I know I've seen it before for plasmas in general and it's free to download. I just don't know where.

1. What do I need to do to professionally break in properly?
http://www.eaprogramming.com/
Click on the 'Downloads' button to access all of the break in images. I used the PS3 and SD card when breaking in mine. (Downloaded the 'Plasma Break-in DVD Images' file.)

2. What steps do I take to calibrate it properly? (disc or professional)

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1053444
Find the 500M break in settings.

3. What settings should I use for all modes and what is recommended?

It's on AVS forums - late for work!! Can't help now!

4. ISF patch : should I get control cal ? If so, what do I need to do?

This is on AVS as well - late for work!! Can't help now!

5. Any soundbar you can recommend that I can use which supports the 3 HD audio streams?

On AVS again! lol, late for work!

Most everything else can be found here.

Search around in the Plasma Flat Panel Display board, you'll find what you're looking for.

I got vanns.com to price match abes of maine last week at 1548.18. (Now the price is $1598.18 at abes AND SOLD OUT) Abes had it with the mount. I told the guy to substitute for the stand instead. He said he did not have the stand i wanted so I told him to take off the value of the one offered. He said he would go ahead and offered to take $148.18 off total price for an even $1400 for the TV with free shipping

He told me hes just doing the deal to help me out and because I was reasoanable in my request and wanted to outdo abes. ( i never really wanted to purchase from abe becasue they are not authorized to sell pioneers form their site)

So my price right now is $1400.00 even (free shipping) from vanns for JUST the krp. I went on amazon.com and saw the krp ts02 from beach camera for $100 shipped so i ordered that. So my price was $1500 shipped now and i used AMEX for the krp purchase giving me an additional yr of warranty.

I got the oppo for $450 by emailing amazon.com and asking them to do a $50 courtesy credit just one time to hel me with the purchase and after the second email they agreed and said they would looking at my numerous bluray purchases. So i really spent $1950 total shipped (and i just received the oppo today and it is BEAUTIFUL) but i just wanted to say $2000 since its easier and flat

but in reality my total out of pocket is $1950 shipped

yah i know..i stole this deal and everything guaranteed with warranty from manufacturers. Not to brag but i dont think anyone could have paid $under 2000 for this entire deal.

what soundbar should i get? I dont want to go through spending a lot of money on speakers and receiver etc in the beginning.

So i decided to go with a soundbar instead...im looking at the vizio for cost considerations but ti doesnt sport an HDMI input and doesnt support the 3 HD audio streams. Although for $125 it is a good deal.

Can someone help me with how to go about looking for soundbar that is the cheapest and will sport the hdmi input and HD audio formats?

thanks

+ 1,000,000!!!! Close your eyes and listen to a movie - then open your eyes and take away the sound. They'll hear the difference
