is upconverting a threat?

I was discussing the latest upgrade to the ps3 with a coworker who is as enthusiastic about blu-ray as me (i just crest the 50 title mark yesterday). one thing we came to was naturally the upconverting regular dvds. we both agreed it made our dvds look awesome. the problem is, now I feel less inclined to rebuy titles on blu-ray that I already have on dvd. with the exception of some favorite titles as well as new releases I can't see myself buying a lot of the movies I have now that the the ps3 upconverts them as well the new receiver i'm getting. does anyone else feel this way? I feel like a bad blu-ray footsoldier.
